update: i looked it up
over the past 27 years, Green Hill Zone has shown up a total of 22 times
compared to Kanto which has only shown up in 5 sets of games, including the Let’s Go games
Green Hill is one level that exists to acclimate you to whatever control changes the game has. Imagine if each game took place entirely in one zone, and they still kept bringing Green Hill back
